Special Tests

The Colorado Ultra Enduro brings you near some additional great riding spots that don't add forward progress on the route. These can be added as special tests for elevated finisher status. Finish 3 of the 4 special tests for the Prospector finisher designation. Please note some tests count as two when the loop is ridden in certain directions.

Special Test 1: Snowslide

On day 1 when you complete the St. Charles trail, rather than turning right onto Cinseros, turn left which will bring you back to Lake Isabel. If your truck is parked there this is a great chance to fuel up. From the campground find the Snowslide trail which will bring you to the top of this riding area and to the meadow where Cinsero's would have brought you. The snowslide trail is steep & rocky, it has been known to boil over 4 strokes even with great riders on them.

Special Test 2: Horseshoe Creek + Canyon Creek

When in Sergeants, if you want a little more taste for the area's riding, and to dip into the great Taylor Park area this special test is a short distance away.  If you ride the route clockwise its tough. However in reverse and ride counter clockwise it might be the most difficult loop in Colorado. Riding counterclockwise counts as 2 special tests!

Special Test 3: Embargo, Cathedral, Groundhog

While cutting across the tundra on day 3 you ride right by this amazing loop. Riding it counter clockwise is difficult, going down some tight pinches with large rocks then back up some fun steep switchbacks. Riding it clockwise is extremely difficult and counts as 2 special tests!

Special Test 4: Columbine Lake

When riding over Ophir Pass on day 4 or 5 you will ride right past this amazing piece of alpine singletrack.  Please be courteous to the hikers you will encounter.  Also don't look down!

Special Test 5: North Calico

At the Calico trailhead, turn onto singletrack trail #208.  This trail has extreme cliffside exposure and should not be taken lightly. A mistake here will have major consequences.
